Wimborne Chinese medicine clinic is now open

I’m delighted that the clinic is open once more and would like to reassure you that I am making every effort, with your help, to stay Covid-19 secure. To help achieve this, you’ll be asked to:

  1. Wear a face mask to help stop the spread of the corona virus
  2. Sanitise your hands when entering the clinic and avoid touching surfaces as much as possible
  3. Observe social distancing as far as is possible
  4. Observe appropriate cough hygiene

Covid-19 Consent Form

If you answer Yes to any of the following you’re asked to NOT visit the clinic. No cancellation fees apply in this situation. Please keep me informed of your condition and I will do all I can to support you.

  • A fever in last 7 days?
  • A persistent dry cough?
  • Been advised to self-isolate of self-quarantine?
  • Other signs/symptoms of Covid-19 (loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, exhaustion)?

High Risk categories that should exercise caution include those with:

  • Organ transplants
  • Ongoing cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, antibodies
  • Immunosuppressant medications
  • Severe lung conditions
  • Steroids use at high dose
  • Pregnancy
  • Heart conditions

If any of these apply to you, my advice is to follow the latest government guidelines on contact with others, including having acupuncture.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding during this difficult time. Justin

Philosophy

The Wimborne Chinese medicine clinic aims to:

  • 1. Provide practical, focused and lasting solutions.
  • 2. Integrate the traditions of Chinese medicine with western functional medicine.
  • 3. Provide holistic support to patients.

Providing the best possible care takes time and can involve:

  • Listening and discussing options.
  • Acupuncture and moxibustion.
  • Herbal combinations.
  • Cupping.
  • Referrals to other healthcare practitioners or scans.
  • Functional medicine testing and interpretation.
  • Dietary and lifestyle advice.

As a natural approach to healthcare becomes more attractive, many peoplechooseChinese medicine's "Systems" approach. The body has different health systems, cardiac, renal, digestive etc., that influence and support each other. Understanding the patterns involved lies at the core of Chinese medicine.

Acupuncture is a technique to alter the balance of the patterns. It's not just the insertion of needles and is why treatment times are so much longer than "dry needling" by a physio or chiropractor.

  • It's not simply prescriptive points for a condition.
  • It involves understanding how and why a condition developed and treating it.
  • It's a complex medical framework that differentiates illnesses. We all know paracetamol reduces pain and heat, but that doesn't make us all doctors…

Using the consultation forms reduces time and costs, and all patients are asked to fill one in.

My role is "a resource, not a requirement" in most people's lives. I aim to get patients well as soon as possible; they can then come back when they need to.

The clinic

The clinic is ¼ mile from Wimborne town centre. Please park on the road or drive (to one side, please, to get two cars on).

The small conservatory at the front of the house acts as a waiting area; please just ring the bell, come on in and take a seat before your appointment. The treatment room opens directly into this waiting area and the clinic is separate from the rest of the house.
