Wimborne Chinese medicine clinic is re-opening

I’m delighted that the clinic is re-opening and would like to reassure you that I am making every effort, with your help, to stay Covid-19 secure. To help achieve this, you’ll be asked to:

  1. Wear a face mask to help stop the spread of the corona virus
  2. Sanitise your hands when entering the clinic and avoid touching surfaces as much as possible
  3. Observe social distancing as far as is possible
  4. Observe appropriate cough hygiene

If you answer Yes to any of the following you’re asked to NOT visit the clinic. No cancellation fees apply in this situation. Please keep me informed of your condition and I will do all I can to support you.

  • A fever in last 7 days?
  • A persistent dry cough?
  • Been advised to self-isolate of self-quarantine?
  • Other signs/symptoms of Covid-19 (loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, exhaustion)?

High Risk categories that should exercise caution include those with:

  • Immunosuppressant medications
  • Severe lung conditions
  • Steroids use at high dose
  • Pregnancy
  • Heart conditions

If any of these apply to you, my advice is to follow the latest government guidelines on contact with others, including having acupuncture.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding during this difficult time. Justin

About Justin

Justin has practiced Chinese medicine since 1996, his background is really in western science and he thought about going into research after getting a BSc.(Hons) in Marine Biology from Swansea University in 1987. His acupuncture studies started in 1993 at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading. He graduated as an acupuncturist from CICM in 1996 and later as a Chinese herbalist in 2002 (after another three year course).

In response to the demand for specialist fertility treatment, Justin studied with Dr Trevor Wing of the Women's Natural Health Practice in London; it's the only course in Europe that teaches TCM Gynaecology and Obstetrics to the standard taught in hospitals in China. This led to a post-graduate Diploma in TCM Clinical Gynaecology and Obstetrics in 2011 and to being one of Trevor's Associate practitioners.

After Justin graduated from the herb course in 2002 he joined the CICM staff for ten years. Justin is one of the founder members of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the governing body of traditional acupuncturists in the UK since 1996 and is a full member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM).

The Wimborne Chinese medicine clinic aims to provide a practical approach to health that does it's best to integrate the tried and tested traditions of Chinese medicine with modern western medicine. Chinese medicine has a tradition of over 4,000 years, it's still as relevant today as it's ever been, it's extremely flexible and able to learn from and adapt to modern science and techniques.

As more people choose a natural approach to their healthcare Chinese medicine is an obvious choice; it's a complete form of medicine that's been around for centuries and is very effective at treating problems and optimising health. It's not the only answer though, so a referral to a doctor or other healthcare professional may be recommended if it's needed.

It would be wonderful if Chinese medicine was 'free at the point of contact' but alas this isn't the case. Our consultation forms help reduce the time and cost of treatment. Justin sees his role as 'a resource rather than a requirement' in people's lives and tries to get patients as well as possible, as soon as possible. A life free of limitation is a better life and this includes having to see your acupuncturist too often...

The clinic

The clinic is easy to find and about ¼ mile from Wimborne town centre with parking either on the drive or on the road. If parking on the drive please park to one side so that two cars can fit on it.

The small conservatory at the front of the house acts as a waiting area; please just ring the bell, come on in and take a seat before your appointment. The treatment room opens directly into this waiting area and the clinic is separate from the rest of the house.
